Having a son with many food allergies, I really related to Kathy, a mom who recently asked me for some great snacks and recipes for her 9 month old daughter who is allergic to dairy. Here are some suggestions for you and all who live with this challenge. Please keep in mind that some of these suggestions might be too old for a young child, but like clothing, you will need new recipes as they grow.

Since kids still need calcium for proper bone and tooth growth, you will need to find alternative ways for them to get this calcium. Knowing how to use milk substitutes like rice, almond, soy or coconut as well as vegan cheeses can help you create many of your child’s favorite recipes, including grilled cheese and milkshakes, while keeping dairy out of his/her diet.
