I love North Carolina and spring is definitely in the air. The birds are chirping. The grass is bright green and ready to be cut again and I’ve been itchin’ to get outside and work in the yard.

Last week I sanded and stained my two front doors. Due the hot sun in the afternoons, I need to give these doors a little TLC every spring. I don’t mind, though. I enjoy working on projects.

I love welcoming family and friends to my home and what better way to welcome folks then with a front entrance, wouldn’t you agree?

This week I decided that my spring wreaths were in need of being replaced. I’ve had them so long. Goodbyes are hard, except for winter weather. Easy to say good riddance to that! In the mood to make some new wreaths so to the craft store I went.

For these spring wreaths I decided to use different kinds of greenery and just a touch of purple. I also found artificial dill and basil plants. This was the perfect addition for someone like me who loves herbs. I’ve actually never seen them before and what better greenery to add to my wreath! Too bad I can’t just snip some off, but my herb garden will be planted very soon.

I think the natural green just looks so nice against the wood. What do y’all think?

And there’s just somethin’ about a Boston fern by the door.

This year I found what I think is a really attractive clay pot holder. I thought it was the perfect home for the pretty pink, purple, orange and yellow plants I bought to match the pictures in my little flag.

Caring for my plants, shrubs and trees…

After tiring from buying mulch chips every year, I purchased some rubber mulch this year which I hope will last longer. My son Alex also helped me by putting plant food spikes near each bush and tree. I do love feeding people…and so I couldn’t forget about my plants, trees and shrubs.

I only have a few spring decorations but I enjoy taking them out every year.

  • I love the very special ceramic piece my son Nathaniel made for me a couple of years while studying at Campbell University. Each side depicts the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • My wooden bunnies enjoy greeting everyone.
  • My spring tea set has been the star of many tea parties! I love the mommy bunny and her little ones. Aren’t they adorable? When not being used, I place them on my buffet table in my dining room.
  • Placemats are inexpensive and can be changed throughout the seasons. and a simple Easter basket with eggs makes a cute centerpiece. Wooden bunnies hold place cards.

With Easter just a few days away, I think an Easter brunch is a great idea! It’s the perfect menu to make ahead, and it’s easy, welcoming and delicious.
