I recently visited my son at Campbell University. Although he lives on campus, Nathaniel is only thirty minutes away. I sometimes surprise him and bring him goodies. Funny thing, my son loves people as much as I do and shares everything with them. Knowing this, I began bringing more goodies up for his friends. How wonderful that I could show my love of others at his university with my food! The kids were always excited when they heard I was coming… they knew I would bring homemade goodies after all!
I recently brought my Maple Banana Blueberry Bread up to school. As I drove up with this particular bread in my van, I now smelled like a bakery! Once word got out that Mrs. J. had brought something, the bread was gone within a few minutes! I loved it!
As I drove home that day, I was thinking about Mrs. Cavanaugh, a precious older woman who met me at my grammar school during a function one afternoon. This would be the first time we’d meet and she brought me a box of homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies-they were the best I’d ever had and she made them herself…FOR ME! She was just the cutest elderly lady! She had such a loving, kind sense about her. Because I enjoyed her cookies so much, she would often drop by the school and surprise me with goodies. I hope I expressed how much that meant to me. Due to a terrible speech impediment I barely spoke in school. I stuttered horribly, and I dreaded school most days! Funny how her face would light up my day!
As I drove off thinking about Mrs. Cavanaugh, I was so happy to be passing on her legacy!
