My friends at BJ’s Wholesale Club and I are excited about the upcoming football season! One of my favorite things to grill is my turkey burgers filled with spinach, garlic and feta! When BJ’s asked me to come up with a round two recipe for a Second Helpings segment in Buffalo, New York, I knew just what to create! This salisbury steak recipe was delicious! I know you and your family and friends will love this! The  burgers filled with spinach, spices, and feta cheese adorned with this rich, thick and flavorful sauce made this meal one of the most enjoyable comforting dinners we’ve had all week!

Second helpings, or round two recipes, are not only great on your budget, but usually even more flavorful the second time around. When foods are allowed to sit overnight or added to other ingredients they almost taste better then the first time you ate them!

Here’s how I made my turkey salisbury steak:

I grilled my burgers. You can get the recipe here.

Now I melted butter and sauteed onions and mushrooms until browned. I added garlic for a minute, too! Everything’s better with garlic!

In a bowl I whisked together flour, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, dry white wine, chicken broth, dried sage, parsley, salt and pepper. I added it to the onions, mushrooms and garlic.

Doesn’t that just make you want to stick a fork into that burger?

Of course what better to serve salisbury steak with than homemade mashed potatoes and peas?

Saute your onions and mushrooms in butter until slightly browned over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cook one minute more.

In a large bowl whisk together flour, white wine, chicken broth, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce,  dried sage, parsley, salt and pepper. I added it to the onions, mushrooms and garlic. Allow the sauce to thicken and add turkey burgers to heat and coat with the sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes and peas or favorite vegetable!

Enjoy! From our hearts to yours,

Elise and family
