Did you know that June is National Iced Tea month? Neither did I! Thanks, Lori!
Reward yourself with a nice cold glass of sweet tea WITHOUT the sugar and WITH the health benefits of green tea! Several medical studies show that green tea can potentially fight cancer, lower cholesterol, prevent diabetes, help you burn fat…YES… and stave off dementia. Am I too old to be suffering from dementia? I hope so…just forgetful these days I suppose!
Using Truvia or Stevia instead of sugar also eliminates the calories, is 100% natural, is 250 to 300 times sweeter than sugar, so you don’t need to use as much (very economical, yes!) and is highly recommended for people who struggle with pre-diabetes or diabetes.
What I love about this recipe is that you can sweeten it one way or just have everyone sweeten it THEIR way each time. It’s refreshing, easy and perfect! So much less expensive then purchasing a gallon at your grocery store.
Here’s what I do:
1. I wake up and decide ‘Hey, I want some sweet tea!’
2. I fill my tea kettle with my filtered water.
3. I bring the water to a boil and turn off the heat. Stay with me now…
4. I then place four, that’s right, only four… Bigelow Organic Green Tea bags into the kettle.
5. I simply leave the tea bags in allowing them to steep and the water to cool down.
6. You can add some fresh mint leaves at thsi point.
7. A little later on, I place the tea in my container in the frig and, as people want it, they just place a few drops of liquid Stevia or powdered Stevia, in their drink.
The neat thing about this is that you only need a little Stevia and everyone can put in their desired amount.
