Porter Farms owns land right beside our development and we look forward to watching the beautiful strawberry fields grow each year. This year they surprised everyone and planted… pumpkins!  How excited were we to see a huge pumpkin patch basically in our backyard!

The other day my son Alex and I decided to visit the pumpkin patch and the beautiful farm stand right next to it. I took some pictures just for you guys. Porters Farms did an awesome job this year decorating.

They even added a shiny new red roof to the stand which the locals love!

In case you didn’t know, Peanuts, those loving characters created by Charles Schultz, have been favorites of mine since I was a young child. One of my favorite episodes was It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I waited for it every year. Okay, so even though I’m 29 … smile…I still wait for it to come on each year.

Remember how Linus waits for “The Great Pumpkin” in the pumpkin patch every Halloween night? Every time I drive by this beautiful pumpkin patch I think of Linus –especially at dusk or in the evening hours. Good old, Linus. I love him. I’m not gonna lie.

Would you care to see the pumpkin patch that triggers wonderful memories of my childhood, my favorite cartoon, pumpkin picking with my family and friends and just makes me downright warm and fuzzy inside? Here it is…our own pumpkin patch (well sort of)!

 

Not only are the leaves, pumpkins and gourds lovely to look at in the fall but the skies are simply amazing!

I awoke the other morning to see a pretty orange hue in my keeping room. This is what I saw in the back of our house…

 

 

 

and then in the front later that night…

 

While gazing upward in awe I was immediately reminded of the verse in Psalms 8: 3-5

3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
