Our new neighbors moved in just in time for their new arrival! Their first child, a beautiful and healthy baby boy, was born just a few days after they moved in. As I walked through the store looking for the perfect gift, I found a precious little outfit (haven’t bought baby outfits in quite a while, so that was a real treat). Being a homeschool mom of seventeen years, I had to find the perfect book that was both touching and educational.

As I browsed the store I came across IT! It was the most precious thing I’d seen in the baby section…ever! I felt like Ralphie from the Christmas Story… can you see me now? It was an absolutely adorable set of baby cookie cutters complete with a bottle, carriage, rubber ducky, baby block and a rattle! Oh, I was ecstatic! I thought to myself, “Where have you been all of my life?”

I came home and made a little card featuring my Sugar Cookie recipe. On the card I wrote “C is for Cookie.” I also included my recipe for Sugar Cookies; something for baby and something for mom and dad!

Treat your family to these wonderful Sugar Cookies! Heck, get the whole family involved in the baking process! You’ll need kids to help you mix, measure, and of course, to cut out the shapes.

Sugar Cookies

2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. softened butter
4 eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
Approximately 5 c. all-purpose sifted flour

Cream the first five ingredients very well. Add baking soda and powder. Add flour slowly until dough forms. Chill. Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Cut out shapes as desired. If decorating with sprinkles or colored sugar, gently press into top of cookies before baking. Store between layers of wax paper.

Happy baking everyone!
