Many woman living with pre-menopause or menopause ask me about their diets. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television, but I do love researching recipes particularly recipes those that are healthy for my family. Here are two healthy breakfast recipes to get you started. These recipes are also good for the men who love you as well!

Everyone should choose foods as close to their natural state as possible. Yo should rely heavily on lean sources of protein such as fish, poultry and tofu, and eat red meats sparingly. Carbohydrates should come primarily from whole-wheat and whole grain bread products, vegetables and fruit. Avoid “white” carbs such as rice, white bread and pasta. Increasing your protein intake and decreasing your carbohydrates as you get older helps stabilize both your insulin and estrogen levels.

As far as fats and sugars go, they should be used sparingly. Fats should be high-quality fats such as olive oil. Be sure to look for hidden sugars in products; it’s often disguised as corn syrup. Choose sweeteners like raw honey, Stevia and Truvia.

Blueberries are loaded with compounds that fight oxidation and inflammation, which are associated with age-related deficits such as memory and motor function. Helpful at any time in life… vital in MENOPAUSE.
