“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18

Years ago in Asheville, NC, my dear friend Jane and I were inspired by this verse as we planned our theme for a ladies tea. Jane and I decided to host a table together. Because both of us love to garden, we focused on the verse that would help us create a spring garden theme for our table. Several other ladies from our congregation hosted tables as well. Some of the ladies made the food and others helped decorate, while some invited and picked up those in need of transportation. Ladies from the local shelter joined us and a wonderful time of fellowship was had by all. Jane and I started by choosing our theme. My blue floral china was used for our place settings and several verses with the words like seeds, growth, planting and rain were placed around the table. Each guest received a packet of seeds and a little clay pot of.

I once hosted a tea just as meaningful, but on a much smaller scale and had such fun planning for it. Wanting to do something special for five women who helped me tremendously with a fundraiser in our area, I hosted a ladies tea for them. After thinking about each woman, I choose a flower that reminded me of her. One of my friends helped me so much that I chose the bluebell which stands for gratitude. An always cheerful friend was given the beautiful bright coreopsis. Each place card had a picture of the flower and it’s meaning. Each friend also went home with a small plant.

Learn about the language of flowers and decide which ones represent the important women in your life.

The Titus 2 Tea was held at the Fairview Baptist Church in Apex, North Carolina.

The theme for this tea was Titus 2: 3 -5
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

Here are some of the beautiful tables the ladies put together:
