Gingerbread Waffles
I wish I could describe the aroma that came from these amazing Gingerbread Waffles! The wonderful smell of ginger, molasses, cinnamon and fresh ground nutmeg was almost too much to stand!
1 cup King Arthur unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon Rumford baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
2 eggs, beaten
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup canola oil
2 tablespoons molasses
In a bowl combine all dry ingredients. In another bowl whisk together eggs, milk, oil and molasses.
Combine both wet adn dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
Place about 1 cup of batter in a preheated greased waffle iron. leave lid open for a minute and then close. Bake according to your waffle iron’s instructions.
Orange Maple Glaze
1 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons salted butter
Zest and juice of one orange
In a small saucepan heat up the maple syrup, orange juice adn zest until hot. let sit for a few minutes and enjoy over your waffles!
We love to adorn these waffles with homemade whipped cream and toasted nuts.
